Chartered Accountant is the evergreen profession, whose services are required in every business. It broadens the scope in banks, stock broking companies, insurance companies, finance department of corporate, investment departments of companies and mutual funds, etc.

Career Prospects
Once you are qualified Chartered Accountant, ample opportunities opens up. Chartered Accountants can work as Finance Managers, Financial Controllers and Financial Advisors. They supervise the finance, in day to day operation of companies. Their main areas of work are Accountancy, Auditing, Cost accountancy, Taxation, Investigation and Consultancy.

Accountancy means keeping financial records and compiling daily, monthly and yearly management accounts. The main task revolves around operating accounts, doing internal audits and dealing with wages and salaries.

 Auditing is evaluating financial statement of the company. CA performs financial, cost and tax audits, and some aspects of secretarial audits.
Cost Accountancy means maintaining cost auditing records, compiling cost information, installing cost controls and even performing cost audits. It involves budgeting and budgetary control, forecasting further needs and costs, monitoring expenditure and other related costs.

Taxation means dealing with direct taxes, like income tax and wealth tax, assessment of taxes, filing returns and providing advice on indirect taxes. This job involves optimizing the company's financial structure.

Investigation means examining specific aspects of businesses, to ascertain the financial position for the purpose of issue of new shares, purchase or sale or financing of business.

Consultancy means advising business houses on improving their efficiency and profitability. Basically, it involves management accounting and internal audit; corporate law advice; project planning and finance ; business advise ; systems design and information consultancy.
